I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from New York University and I am licensed to practice as a psychologist in New York (020525) and New Jersey (35SI00587900). I have met all requirements and obtained an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) from the PSYPACT Commission (APIT Number 16521).
I maintain a private practice in New York City (Flatiron) and in Hoboken where I provide psychological consultations, individual and couples therapy. Additionally, I am Assistant Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine – Mount Sinai Health System in New York where I supervise doctoral-level trainees and psychiatry residents in their clinical work – conducting individual and group therapy.
My education in Psychology began in Mumbai, where I completed a B.A. in Psychology at Sophia College for Women, University of Mumbai. At Boston University I completed a Master of Arts in Psychology and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Counseling before moving to New York City to pursue a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at NYU.
My extensive work experience spans twenty years. I trained in a variety of settings, including Bellevue Hospital (NY), Cambridge Hospital (MA), Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility (NY), and New York University Counseling Center and completed a rigorous internship and fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, New York. Following the completion of my training I worked at Mount Sinai Health System in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry.
My research involvement in the following areas grew out of genuine curiosity to learn more about each subject: immigration, acculturation and identity development; longitudinal research on personality disorders; health-related beliefs among immigrant women; power and race relations in group dynamics; and the role of self-silencing, expression of anger and attachment styles in women’s experience of satisfaction in intimate relationships.
I am a member of the following professional organizations:

Asian American Psychological Association
Postpartum Support International
Women’s Mental Health Consortium of New York
