Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

You could start with noting that it takes courage and self-awareness to recognize that something is wrong or missing in your life and that you might need extra support from a trained clinician to take on the challenge of figuring it out.  If you are curious to learn more about my practice or ready to schedule an appointment to meet with me in person, please call or email me.  We would start by setting up an initial consultation where I will ask you questions to try to assess your needs and clarify your goals for therapy. Of equal importance, the initial sessions give us an opportunity to determine whether we feel like we would be “a good fit” – our mutual level of comfort and rapport.

What are your fees?

My fees vary depending on the type of therapy (individual/couples), length of session and location. Please connect with me to discuss my fees.

Payment is due at the time of service in the form of credit card, cash, check, or FSA/HSA credit card.

Are you a provider for BCBS/United/Anthem/Fidelis?

I am not an in-network provider for these insurance companies.  I provide all clients an invoice which you may choose to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, or use for your FSA/HSA account.  If your insurance plan has out of network benefits, a portion of psychotherapy expenses may be covered by your insurance policy.  I encourage you to call your insurance company and ask them the following questions:

Do I have out of network benefits for mental health?
Do I have an annual session limit?
How much does my plan cover for an out of network provider?
What is my deductible and what is my current balance on the deductible?
What percentage of the fee is reimbursed for a therapy session?
How do I access the necessary form for reimbursement?

Are my sessions confidential?

As a licensed psychologist, I adhere to strict standards of confidentiality as outlined by HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act, 1996), American Psychological Association, and laws and regulations of the states of New York and New Jersey where I am licensed.  I provide all clients with forms delineating the standards of confidentiality. Please contact me if you have questions regarding your Protected Health Information (PHI).

Do you offer teletherapy?

Telephone and video conference sessions, using a HIPAA-compliant, secure, encrypted platform are offered to clients.
